The Journey Begins

I have been in a number of weddings but have only been a member of a wedding party once when I was 9 years old! So when my sister, +Dorian Smith  got engaged this summer, I knew that I was going to be a Maid of Honor and was super excited. Most people know that I am a huge fan of reality shows so of course, I have watched a number of  episodes of "Say Yes To The Dress", "Bridezilla" and anything involving wedding planning and David Tutera (who I met around the holiday season and of course he shared fab advice with me). I also went into heavy research mode. My sister is getting married November 11.23.13 in St Lucia at the Sandals Resort! Now with so much to do without a lot of time, my natural planning ideas kicked in! In addition, I knew that I wanted to share what it means to be a Maid of Honor as well as someone who is helping to plan a wedding.

My career has been in fashion as I'm an Accessories Expert who appears on a number of segments including being on HSN, I've been quoted a lot in a number of magazines and of course, I'm the founder of Kitten Lounge which covers an Accessories Forward lifestyle. My work also includes me being the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Shoe Week which is a shoe focused initiative! With all of this going on, I totally have time to do what I do best - plan and make things fabulous. My posts will focus on what I'm doing in the wedding, how we're making this Destination Wedding the exact vision of what my sister loves and how it all comes together. I'm so fortunate that I know a number of people in the industry that will accessorize this wedding to the next level. Here are the bare bones facts that I will be working on!

WEDDING PARTY - There are only 6 people (myself, my soon to be brother in law's sister, his best man, his groomsmen, the bride and the groom)

WEDDING GUESTS - 175 people

WEDDING DRESSES - There will be 2 and as my sister is the anti-bridezilla, it's so easy with her sense of style (can't wait to see her in dresses)

COLORS - My sister loves a peacock theme

MY OBJECTIVES:

- Making sure every guest has fab welcome gifts, it's a destination wedding so it's essentially a mini vaca - I'd love tote bags filled with items that will make them look amazing during their stay while keeping them fun safe

- Ensuring that the bridal party is accessorized, we're a small party so you know my styling know how will kick into overdrive

- Creating fun events for us the day or two prior to the wedding for the wedding party and guests

- Accessorizing the bride, I'm all about go big or go home and my sister is not necessarily there, there must be a medium

- Keeping her stress free while thinking about the wedding, I know a number of people will not be able to attend so essentially there will be a wedding and a big party in NYC (my duties won't stop at the wedding)
